Connect with the elements and with your creative body. This workshop combines movement practices inspired by the qualities of the elements (earth, fire, water, air) and a journaling practice to capture what the elements evoke inside each of us. Movement connects us to what’s inside, and writing allows us to take what is inside and bring it out, sometimes surprising us when we articulate sensations or connections for the first time.
You do not need any prior yoga or writing experience to join this session, just curiosity and willingness to explore!
Movement practice is inspired by vinyasa yoga and somatic movement. Participants should be prepared to use forms like cobra, downward facing dog, warrior, and child’s pose–modifications will be offered.
Writing practice is inspired by the work of Transformative Language Arts, a method of writing that encompasses any use of language in an artistic way for positive personal and / or communal change.
